Continuing the series of ‘Best Oils for Coily Hair’, I’m going to be introducing you to a coily fave: Coconut Oil!
Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that helps to tame frizzy hair and promote healthy growth.
It is also a great choice for people with type 4 coily hair.
In this blog post, I will discuss the benefits of coconut oil for coily hair, and how to use it to achieve the best results.
So, What’s The Deal With Coconut Oil?
Coconut Oil is the most versatile cooking oil in existence. It is nutritious, affordable, and easy to find anywhere in the world.
It is believed this amazing food can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease (because of its anti-inflammatory properties), ease inflammation-related headaches, help to protect your skin from the sun, reduce inflammation, and a plethora of other uses.
But that’s not all. Coconut oil is also great for your natural hair by keeping it healthy and strong. It can help to hydrate dry strands, tame frizz, and promotes growth by improving blood circulation.
When it comes to coily hair, coconut oil is a miracle worker.
It is a great natural alternative to commercial hair products that are often full of harsh chemicals. When used regularly, coconut oil can help to make your hair softer, shinier, and healthier.
Coconut oil has many uses in hair care products and has been used for generations as a beauty and health aid.
If an all-natural way to improve the health of your coily hair is number one on your natural care list, look no further than coconut oil!
Is Coconut Oil Good For Coily Hair?
If you have coily hair, you know that it can be difficult to find products that work well for our hair type.
Coconut oil is a great option for those of us with coily hair, as it is a natural moisturizer that can help to tame frizzy and promote healthy growth.
Coconut oil has been used for centuries as a beauty elixir, and it is absolutely amazing on coily hair. You can also use it regularly without any worries about damage.
Our textured hair needs special attention and this oil can help you get smooth and shiny locks, while also being great for conditioning or reducing frizz when applied correctly!
Because coily hair is often prone to frizz and dryness, coconut oil is one of the best choices to combat these issues.
Coconut oil is a natural emollient, which means that it helps to soften and hydrate the hair. It’s anti-inflammatory properties can help to soothe an irritated scalp as well.

How to use Coconut Oil for Coily Hair
There are two ways to use coconut oil on coily hair: as a pre-poo treatment, or as a leave-in conditioner.
As a pre-poo treatment, apply the oil to your hair and scalp before shampooing. This will help to protect your hair from the harsh chemicals in shampoo, and it will also add extra moisture and shine.
I do my oil pre-poo with a plastic cap to help lift my strand cuticles and let the nutrients penetrate more easily. A plastic cap uses your body temperature to create heat that lifts the cuticles of your hair.
As a leave-in conditioner, apply the oil to damp or dry hair. You can either use it sparingly on problem areas such as the ends of your hair, or you can apply it all over for extra hydration.
Either way, be sure to use a light hand so that your hair does not end up looking greasy. Apply it to from root to tip to ensure your entire coils are getting all the goodness.
I also add coconut oil to my daily hydrating leave-in and my coils love it. You can add this wonder oil to your favorite butter for some added punch as well.
Coconut oil is a wonderful ingredient for all types of hair, but it’s especially effective when used in deep conditioning treatments because the fatty acids penetrate past surface layers (the cuticles) and strengthen follicles from within.
You can also add it to your favorite conditioner or deep conditioning treatment . (I’ve finally figured out how to keep my hair moisturized and have a video on my YouTube channel):
For best results, leave the coconut oil in your hair for at least 30 minutes before washing it. For best results, I recommend using coconut oil once or twice per week.
If you’re looking for a natural way to achieve soft, shiny, and healthy hair, coconut oil is the way to go! Be sure to give it a try the next time you’re in need of a deep conditioning treatment. Your coily locks will thank you!
